The ability to change up Monotony. I get tired of the same old thing, day after day, the same schedule. While we have to do some of that to get portions of our school work done, its so awesome to switch gears for a week and do something that breaks it up. Sometimes we can schedule a two-three day vacation that we didn’t plan, or sometimes I can throw out our science curriculum for a month and just study something different and cool. You name it, we can change it up. We can decide to do an art project for half the day since it’s raining outside, or we can spend in extra hour playing when the weather is beautiful. Sometimes we can set aside all learning and bake some cookies and throw up a blanket fort and watch Veggietales. I love that I don’t HAVE to stick to everything that I have scheduled. We have freedom to bend things because we don’t have to worry about being “absent”.
(Before anyone flips out, we do have set schedules, because I believe my children need to know and understand responsibility. But we have a great opportunity because I don’t have to have it set in stone ALL the time and we can take a break and enjoy other things while we still learn at home!)
